Hello everyone,
I'm new to trapping and i need some advice on what type of coil trap to buy. There is so many different brands out there. I've seen Duke, Montana, bridger, Victor..... There's just so many. What is the difference in these brands. I am interested in trapping coon, coyote, fox, and bobcat. I was looking at the duke 1 3/4 cs trap for $6 each for a doz. Do you get what you pay for on these traps. I've seen a Montana # 3 going for $16 each as well. Please help!!!

I like the sleepy creek 1 3/4 , they hold very well & are easy to bed, caught coyotes , bobcats & fox in them, i don't care for the off-set jaws though, you will loose some toe catches with them.Yes you do get what you pay for........ Good luck

MBs.... BUT your MB-550 will be a little bit of an over kill for your coon & fox.. Might want to drop to a 450 for them critters... But your MB traps are the cadilac of traps.. IMO..

re 00j32, re traps, my preference in traps is by far 1 3/4 and # 2 victor or Duke coils with the round jaws. I use those for canine trapping, and have coyote as big as fifty two pounds, they are very durable. I use a swivel on the end in the center of the chain. I have found coyote will destroy the # 2 square jaws, those traps don't have the same holding power. My trap chains are very short, four links of trap chain and two swivels. I have four coiled some of my traps for extra holding, but the square jaws will twist out of shape when four coiled.
