Try putting a jaw guard buy your trap. It is a small stick or stone right infront of your loose jaw to guide a animals foot onto the trap pan.

You Know using Backing is a key thing or even a steping stick or guide stick But Im not saying use all them just 1 or so . I like to guide with the trash I get after siffting and use a backing like a stone or a stump to keep them from coming from the back side and the trash helps guide them to the pan . 1 other thing try to off set your trap like 7 inches back and 3 off to the side . this is how i set my land sets . best of luck

Fun and frustrating all at the same time. hang in there I cought my first red this year after 2 years of trying. beat part of all i learned a lot along the way, I must be a slow learner.
